I am a Psychosexual Therapist and Relationship Counsellor. For the past 30 years I have been working in the counselling world in the UK, Europe, USA and Asia. I was originally trained by Relate and am a Registered Member of COSRT (College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists).

I have experience and qualifications in delivering counselling via telephone and face to face - with increased demand for Counselling via Zoom / Skype I have qualified in Working Online and have a Certificate awarded by COSRT.

I work in a psychodynamic and integrative way, using tools from object relations, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and a systemic approach. Life can be a complicated and often people present with feelings of being overwhelmed by emotions that they really don't understand. Counselling can make sense of these overwhelming feelings and create new behaviours that can enable you to move forward with a greater understanding of your behaviours, both positive and negative. As therapists we often steer clear of the word 'Journey', but sometimes learning how to create and keep stable, emotional and sexual relationships is a journey.

My interest in Psychosexual Therapy came about after a significant number of my Relationship Counselling clients presented having been abused as children and this abuse affected their lives in so many ways, not least in their sexual development. This spurred me on to do further training in the area of Psychosexual Therapy. PST can be challenging, creative and transformative, trust between client and therapist is paramount, as trained Psychosexual Therapists we do have a very high positive outcome from therapy!

I have wide experience working in multi-cultural organisations, the penal system and with Military Personnel and their families. I work twice in a year, for a month at a time, in Myanmar, formerly known as Burma. My role there has been to create, train and supervise Counsellors within a medical charity, in a country where Counselling is almost unheard of, it has been a rewarding challenge - very much my passion project.

I am an experienced relationship and psycho-sexual therapist with over 20 years of training and knowledge. I have worked in the UK and mainland Europe both for Relate and in private practice. I am a registered member of the College of Sex and Relationship Therapists (COSRT) and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have a certificate in skills for working online awarded by COSRT.

I believe our need for connection to others, the quality of our personal relationships, and the satisfaction we derive from our personal relationships when things are working well are all key factors in our physical and mental health and well-being. When relationships go offline it can affect all aspects of our lives. Recognising that change is possible is where the process starts. Whether your problems are long-standing and deeply ingrained, or whether you are identifying issues early on, therapy can help you achieve the changes that you are seeking. Sometimes we don’t even know what we want to happen; just that things cannot go on as they are.

We can repeat patterns of behaviour without even knowing what we’re doing but hoping for things to be different without changing anything. Working together we can try to understand where the problems originated and allow you the space to identify the solutions that are right for you. Whether you are wanting to work through things as a couple or on your own; whether the problems are sexual problems or relationship problems, therapy can help you. The key to success in personal relationships is how we communicate with each other.

My wide experience, working for Relate and in private practice in the UK and mainland Europe, has given me a good understanding of the need for a flexible approach and I work in a psycho-dynamic and integrated way incorporating object relations, systemic and cognitive behavioural therapy.

I offer bursaries and reduced fee counselling to several charities who work with Servicemen, Servicewomen, Veterans and their families.
